PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Seventy years after the first modern Beretta over-and-under the model S1, launched in 1933, a new true sidelock shotgun is born. The new SO10 over-and-under is the deserving successor of the famous Beretta SO series hunting and competition shotguns that have earned their reputation, on the Olympic podium and on the most exclusive hunts, from Europe to America to Africa, as the most functional, elegant and exclusive over-and-unders in the world. Please call 01392 354 854 for our best prices. Gracefull and Proportioned Receiver The receiver of the Beretta SO10 over-and-under, depicting exquisitely double ribbed top mouldings, blends elegantly with the classic tapered external profile of the Beretta barrels. It is machined from a solid block of special high-resistant tri-alloy steel. The top mouldings have been gracefully slimmed to offer the best lateral vision during aiming. No part is welded or precision cast. The polishing of the surfaces is done entirely by hand. Innovative Locking System The locking system of the Beretta SO10 over-and-under features a rear longitudinal bolt operating in a central position between the two tubes, making the opening of the barrels smooth and noiseless, and minimizing stress when firing. Two additional lugs, located in the lower part of the receiver, further increase the strength and the efficiency of the locking system. As on the other Beretta SO models, the classic trapezoidal locking shoulders of the barrels work in contrast with the shoulders of the receiver. Newly Designed top Lever The top lever, made from a solid block of steel, has been elongated and positioned closer to the breech face in order to make the opening of the barrels smoother. The safety on the open top lever blocks the firing mechanism if the receiver is not completely closed. An automatic safety, that engages when opening the top lever, is available on request. Replaceable Hinge Pins The hinge pins can be replaced after intensive use. Extra Reliable Locks The side locks are designed for years of constant use and flawless performance. Safe and reliable, they boast a crisp trigger pull and fast lock times. Removable Side Locks The classic Beretta side plates can be disassembled by hand by way of two robust hidden keys, facilitating inspection and maintenance of the firing mechanism. The visible internal parts, all newly designed, are superbly finished and engraved by hand. Titanium Trigger and Extended Guard The trigger of the Beretta SO10 over-and-under is made from precious titanium to ensure superior strength and light weight. The extended trigger guard is manufactured from a solid block of steel. Encased within the grip, it adds a further touch of elegance to the shotgun. No part is welded or precision cast. Demibloc Barrels The new Beretta SO10 over-and-under boasts demibloc barrels, manufactured for the first time using an exclusive process of cold hammer forging extremely resistant ni, cr, mo steel alloy tubes. The perfect concentricity of the tubes obtained with this system ensures lightweight barrels and exceptional strength. Years of flawless performance are guaranteed. Two bands on the sides of the barrels increase the contact area between the fore-end and the tubes, improving the robustness of the shotgun. The top rib is finely hand checkered to reduce glare. The cartridge chambers and the bores are hard-chromed for extra corrosion resistance, extended barrel life and more consistent shot patterns. The deep and glossy blueing of the barrels is the result of repeated black oxidations and painstaking hand work. NEW Stainless Steel Beretta Optimachoke Tubes The new stainless steel screw-in Beretta Optimachoke tubes, with an elongated cone, boast an internal profile specifically designed to enhance the concentration and distribution of shot patterns and to minimize shot deformation. NEW Ejectors with Guide The Beretta SO10 over-and-under features newly designed ejectors, precisely guided on the demibloc to ensure flawless extraction and ejection of the cartridges. The contact area between the ejectors and the shell rim has been increased to improve the efficiency of the cartridge catching. High Quality Walnut The walnut wood used to craft the stock and fore-end is carefully singled out for its grain quality, color and strength. The skill of the stock-maker and his ability with age-old tools are wisely used to create custom dimensioned stocks and fore-ends. The checkering of the wooden parts is also patiently hand executed and provides a functional anti-slip grip surface. Lastly comes polishing, by means of repeated coats of oil or wax applied by hand to enhance the grain, color and brightness of the wood. The slender and elegant fore-end is further embellished by the newly designed fore-end catch lever with hidden retaining screws. The Engravers Signature The absence of pins and screws on the surface of the receiver has given the Master Engraver an uninterrupted blank canvas on which to express his full creativity. Six different engraving patterns are dedicated to the SO10 model. Elegant and Sturdy Cases Entirely hand executed by expert craftsmen, both the cases of the Beretta SO10 and SO10 EELL over and unders are made of solid wood covered in resistant leather. A full range of hand made cleaning and maintenance accessories is provided. Type and color of leather, wood and finishings of accessories vary depending on the model.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Section 2 Shotgun Licence

The legal definition of a sporting shotgun for uk use is: A smooth-bored gun with barrel(s) not shorter than 24”. Any normal sporting shotgun will fall into this category and come under ‘Section 2’ of the firearms acts. This includes pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns, as well as side-by-sides and over-and-unders. A standard shotgun must fit within the parameters of the above and have a capacity for no more than 3 shots.

If a shotgun has a greater capacity than 3 shots it then falls into the FAC Shotgun Category. FAC Shotguns require the owner/user to have a Section 1 Firearms Certificate.

In order to own and use a Section 2 shotgun legally, you will need to apply for a Shotgun Certificate from your local police. You can collect the form from a police station or download one online. Fill in the form, truthfully answering all the questions, and send it together with the required fee and photos, countersigned by a suitable person.

The notes on the form explain who is, and is not, suitable to countersign your application. It needs to be someone of ‘good standing’ who has known you for at least two years but is not an immediate family member, typically a lawyer, doctor, accountant or similar.

A police Firearms Enquiry Officer will want to visit you at home to check the details. He (or she) will inspect the security arrangements you have made for storing your shotgun(s) – so before the visit you need to buy a suitable steel cabinet and fix it to a solid wall in the approved manner. Before installing cabinets it is worth checking with the police that your intentions will meet their criteria. The Police will also quiz you about why you want a gun and the intended uses for such guns.

Provided all goes well and you receive your Shotgun Certificate, you can purchase the shotgun of your choice as long as it fits within the parameters of your licence. To purchase a shotgun you must be over the age of 18 and the police need to be notified of each and every gun you buy or sell, and your certificate must be updated and signed by the seller.

If purchasing a gun over the phone or via the internet for dispatch to a third party gun dealer, you will need to send your certificate to the Sportsman Gun Centre. We can then complete the legal process before sending the gun. Legally your certificate must be filled in by the selling party before the gun can be handed over.

For every shotgun you buy you must be able to store it safely in your cabinet, so don’t allow your collection to exceed the cabinet’s capacity.

There are no special requirements for owning or storing regular clay and game cartridges, but you will need to produce your Shotgun Certificate in order to buy cartridges.

Where and how you use any legally owned shotgun is subject to a stringent set of rules not covered in this article. It is important that you seek advice and do your research when buying and/or using any firearms.
